The SIMultaneo Ensemble of the Conservatorio di Venezia offered a musical trip to Kasakhstan with several concerts as part of the project “Waiting for Expo 2017”.
This year’s “Waiting for Expo 2017” project saw the extraordinary participation of the Arts University of Astana in Kazakhstan alongside musicians from SIMultaneo chamber music ensemble, inaugurating twinning between Kazakh and Venetian arts institutions such as the Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello.
The SIMultaneo ensemble and the Arts University of Astana offered a musical journey into the sounds of Eastern Europe as part of the “Waiting for Expo 2017” project. The SIMultaneo ensemble, created in 2003 by Cecilia Franchini, delves into an international repertoire of chamber music through performances, lectures and recordings. The ensemble involves students, teachers, and composers from seven Arts institutions in the Venetian region. Musicians from SIMultaneo and the Arts University played three concerts in the Conservatory of Venice’s great hall, with compositions by Antonín Leopold Dvořák, Simon Gjoni and Bohuslav Martinu. The concerts were introduced by professor Aldo Ferrari from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
The concerts on the 30th and 31st of March and on the 1st of April offered music from across Europe, including “Madrid military march” and the strings octet op. 20 by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.
