The third edition of the Arts in Venice Summer School ‘The Shape of Water’ kicked off this morning at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory's magnificent venue of Palazzo Pisani. Thirteen students from around the world will follow a series of seminars, activities and multidisciplinary workshops from June 30 to July 11 to deepen their knowledge of Venice as a case study of the contemporary, ranging from the arts to environmental issues, from architecture to archaeology, from music to cinema.
Cecilia Franchini (Music Conservatory) and the Study in Venice staff welcomed the participants, who this year come from Australia, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, the U.S. and Vietnam.
During their two weeks in Venice, the students will have the opportunity to visit the archaeological sites of Torcello, the Biennale Architettura international exhibition, some of the city's most interesting churches, and they will be active parts of music and art workshops curated by Cecilia Franchini and Arthur Duff (Fine Arts Academy).
Finally, the overall participants' experience will be further enriched by some extracurricular cultural activities, such as discovering the Venetian canals on board of a dragon boat or a taste of Venetian cuisine and its renowned “cicchetti.”
